English language certification, via an external assessment, is now nationally compulsory for students enrolled in the 3rd year of a bachelor's degree, a professional degree and the 2nd year of certain DUTs. Proof of a test, with no level requirement, is in fact compulsory when withdrawing the diploma.
This certification is neither linked to the academic results obtained during the course nor to the jury deliberating on the diploma. Nor does it have any impact on the issue of the certificate of achievement.
7,500 students at the University of Montpellier enrolled in a3rd year Bachelor's degree, a professional degree or a2nd year DUT (only certain specialities for DUTs) are concerned by this certification.
An email from the English language platform will be sent to them in May 2022 to provide them with access codes and enable them to take the online test in the coming weeks. Online support is available on the platform.
Certification in line with the European framework
The online test consists of two parts: reading and listening comprehension. The certification, which conforms to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), does not require any particular level in terms of results. The certificate mentions the number of points obtained and indicates the score from A1 to C2.
For students with disabilities who are unable to take the test online, special arrangements are available.
Information can be obtained from the Registrar's Office.
