This contribution must be paid to the CROUS. The procedure will be indicated to the candidates before the completion of their administrative registration.

What is the CVEC?

The CVEC is the Contribution de Vie Etudiante et de Campus. By law, it is collected by the CROUS. The annual amount is 92€, and you may be subject to it or exempted from it depending on the case. The CVEC is a contribution " intended to promote the reception and social, health, cultural and sporting support of students and to support the preventive and health education actions carried out for them", which was introduced on1 July 2018.

Who is affected?

Each student in initial training at a higher education institution must pay this contribution before enrolling at his or her higher education institution.

A mandatory process

There are 2 different cases:

  • or the student must pay a flat fee of 95 euros
  • or the student is exempt.

In both cases, a certificate will be issued: this must be produced at the time of administrative registration.

Who is exempt?

  • Scholarship holders* or beneficiaries of an annual allowance granted in the framework of specific annual aid
  • Refugee students
  • Students with subsidiary protection
  • Students registered as asylum seekers with the right to remain in the country
  • Students with French government scholarships (BGF)

*A clarification on "scholarship holders".

What scholarships are we talking about?

  • Scholarships on social criteria managed by the CROUS (higher education, culture, agriculture, etc.),
  • grants paid by the regions (for students in paramedical, health and social training).

However, the following are not affected:

  • French government scholarships (BGF)
  • Foreign government scholarships (FGS)
  • scholarships paid by a private structure (e.g. a foundation).

When should this be done?

The HDR candidate will have to pay this contribution after receiving the invitation for administrative registration from the Doctoral Studies Department .

No refund of the CVEC will be made.

Where to do this?

  • Step 1: Log on to http://cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr
  • Step 2 Payment (except in case of exemption)
