Center for the study of infectious diseases and anti-infectious pharmacology (CEMIPAI)

CEMIPAI is a service laboratory of the CNRS and the University of Montpellier, open to academic teams and companies.

It is organized around one of the largest L3 microbiology safety laboratories in France, enabling work in a controlled atmosphere on infectious biological samples and class 3 biological agents, such as the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis viruses or mosquito-borne viruses (Chikungunya, Dengue, Zika), pathogenic bacteria and prions.

CEMIPAI welcomes teams, trains researchers in the handling of infectious agents, and develops cell culture tests for therapeutic molecules developed by private and public-sector researchers. State-of-the-art super-resolution microscopy equipment enables us to observe infected cells, viruses and bacteria at nanometric scales.
