Montpellier Institute of Infectious Diseases (IRIM) Research

Infectious diseases account for 35% of all deaths worldwide, and are the main cause of death in children and young adults. In addition, 17% of new cancer cases are thought to be caused by infectious agents. Infectious diseases research is therefore essential to better understand how an infectious agent multiplies within a living organism, so as to be able to prevent, treat and even cure diseases caused by these infections.

IRIM (Institut de Research en Infectiologie de Montpellier) is a research center focused on high-quality basic research in the fields of bacteriology, virology and immunity.
