The originality of the UMI TransVIHMI is the multidisciplinary approach which is carried out there and whose main initial objective is the study of the specificities of HIV and associated diseases, in particular tuberculosis, on the epidemiological, virological, bacteriological, parasitic, clinical and social aspects.
The unit has made a thematic evolution towards non-HIV infections, not only in the context of HIV co-infection, and towards Neglected and Emerging Tropical Diseases.
Thus, more recent work has developed a new line of research-intervention in the context of the response to epidemics (EBOLA).
