- to gain international experience,
- to conduct your research in two partners laboratories,
- to benefit from the guidance of two co-supervisors, one at the University of Montpellier and one from a foreign institution.
You can, from your first year of your PHD in the two universities, register for an international joint doctorate (“cotutelle de thèse”). On the basis of a single thesis and a single defense, you could get a double doctorate degree or a joint-doctorate degree from the University of Montpellier and a partner University.
The research program will have to be divided into alternative periods in both institutions.
You will be enrolled in both institutions, but will be exempted from registration fees in one of the institutions (with the obligation of paying your registration fees at least once within the 3 years at the University of Montpellier).
The Cooperation Unit from the International Relations Department is responsible for the drafting, approval and monitoring of the international joint doctorate agreement.
The future PhD student will also have to contact the Graduate School of[CD1] his co-supervisor at the University of Montpellier in order to fill in his doctorate registration form.
