Opening remarks by Séverine Boulon,
Vice President for Social Responsibility and Campus Life at the University of Montpellier

Because racism and antisemitism are not distant phenomena but realities that can permeate academic, professional, and everyday settings, the University is offering an awareness-raising session.
The program includes: key statistics, an analysis of stereotypes, legal definitions, the consequences of such violence, and practical tools for taking action and responding as a witness or victim. The goal is simple: to help better identify problematic situations, understand how prejudices arise, how they are rooted in history and law, and how they continue to fuel discrimination—sometimes subtle—even today.
Together, let’s make the University a space where mutual respect and shared vigilance enable us to effectively combat racism and antisemitism.
