Curiosity Booths

  • Category: Exhibition
  • Dates: October 5–November 2, 2024
  • Hours: Open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Location: On board the Compass sailboat, at the corner of Quai Vauban and Quai Maillol - Sète

An exhibition on a sailboat—what a strange idea! That’s exactly what The Lost Compass association and the Historical Heritage Department (SPH) at the University of Montpellier (UM) are offering.

A journey through time and space to discover the history of science across fields such as geology, zoology, botany, mineralogy, and more. Artifacts from UM’s heritage collections and research centers*, brought back, exchanged, and purchased by professors and great explorers, will help you better understand what has driven—and continues to drive—men and women to set out across the seas and oceans.

Exhibition supported by the City of Sète and Port Sud de France, with the participation of the Fund for Solidarity and Development of Student Initiatives (FSDIE) at the University of Montpellier.

Admission: €5; free for students and staff of the University of Montpellier upon presentation of a valid ID, and free for everyone during the Festival of Science (October 5–12).

* Montpellier Laboratory of Computer Science, Robotics, and Microelectronics (LIRMM – UM/CNRS/UPV/UPVD/INRIA) and the UMR MARine Biodiversity, Exploitation & Conservation (MARBEC – IRD-IFREMER-CNRS-UM-INRAE).
