Chemistry, Innovation, and Sustainable Transitions
Chemistry Division Scientific Conference – ISEC CEA Marcoule
The Chemistry Research Center ( Research ) at the University of Montpellier and ISEC CEA Marcoule are joining forces for a scientific symposium dedicated to exploring synergies between their areas of expertise and fostering new collaborations.
This event will highlight several themes at the heart of today’s scientific and technological challenges: chemistry for health, the utilization of strategic resources, and innovation in materials through artificial intelligence.
It will provide an opportunity to share recent advances, explore emerging approaches, and pool expertise to address the challenges of the circular economy and the technologies of the future.
What's on the agenda
1. Radiation Therapy and Medical Diagnosis: The Relationship Between Biological Vectors and Radioactive Materials
- Laurence Berthon (ISEC CEA): “Radiolytic Stability of Chelating Agents Used in Nuclear Medicine”
- Aurélie Bessière (IBMM): “Synthesis of Nanoscintillators as Enhancers for Radiotherapy”
2. Recovery of platinum group metals from nuclear fuel
- Patrick Lacroix-Desmazes (ICGM): “Recycling of Critical Metals from Supported Catalysts and Lithium-Ion Batteries via Polymer-Assisted Supercritical CO₂ Extraction”
- Guillaume Mossand (ISEC CEA): “Nuclear Fuel: An Unconventional Source of Strategic Metals?”
3. Artificial Intelligence-Assisted Synthesis and Properties of Materials
- Damien Perret (ISEC CEA): “Statistical Methods and Data-Driven Models for Predicting Glass Properties”
- Kevin Deckner (IEM): “Artificial Intelligence-Guided Design of Metal-Organic Framework Membranes: From Materials Chemistry to Predictive Fabrication”
- Michael Beaudhuin (ICGM): “From Trial and Error to AI-Guided Discovery: Synthesizing Thermoelectric Sulfides Through Bayesian Optimization”
The scientific session will be followed by a buffet lunch.
