This symposium is part of a research project examining the role of scientific truth in relation to judicial truth.

More specifically, the research will focus on the role of DNA evidence and confessions in criminal proceedings.

In fact, DNA evidence and confessions tend to reintroduce an indisputable truth into the trial, just as forensic evidence did in its day.

Can the judge question the defendant’s guilt when DNA evidence has been presented? Can the judge question the defendant’s guilt when the defendant has confessed?
