This event has already taken place!
Friday, May 25, 2018, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
School of Law and Political Science, Lecture Hall C
This symposium aims to address the challenges facing agricultural businesses. It brings together the Private Law Laboratory at the University of Montpellier, the Labex Entreprendre and the University of Montpellier.
Agricultural activity has many unique characteristics, particularly those related to the time required to complete an animal or plant life cycle, as well as to the structure of debt. Consequently, lawmakers and legal practice have had to adapt the law governing companies in financial distress to these specific characteristics.
A New and Vital Topic
The rules governing agricultural businesses in financial distress remain relatively unknown to academics, legal professionals, and even stakeholders in the agricultural sector themselves. To date, no comprehensive academic study has been conducted in this field since 1994. Only a few practitioners are truly specialized in this area. The agricultural community is virtually unaware of the existence of preventive procedures.
By filling this gap, this symposium addresses a genuine need and brings the issue of difficulties faced by agricultural businesses to the forefront.
