Clarinet Concert

June 22, 2017  AGAC* is partnering with the Nîmes IUT and the Nîmes IUT Staff Association (PIN’S) to present a concert by the Poco Assai clarinet ensemble in Lecture Hall 3 at the IUT at 7:00 p.m.
Participation is optional.

*The Gard Association of Friends of the Clarinet (AGAC), founded in 2010 by four artist-teachers, promotes the playing, listening, and sharing of music in the Gard department.

Program:

• Handel: “Jubilate” from the Utrecht Te Deum, HWV 278 (transcription by B. Evans);
• Mendelssohn: 1st movement of String Quintet No. 1 in A Major, Op. 18 (arr. B. Evans);
• Prokofiev: “The Montaigus and Capulets” from the orchestral suite *Romeo and Juliet* (arr. B. Masciotta);
• Grieg: Funeral March for Rikard Nordraak (arr. B. Masciotta);
• Ciesla: 3 movements from the Concerto for Clarinets (B-flat, bass, and E-flat) — "Fantasia," "Habanera," and "Tarentella."

Let yourself be surprised by this musical chameleon, whose colors shift throughout a concert, ranging from the fusion of a vocal choir to the “vitality” of a brass band, the virtuosity of a string orchestra, the good-natured spirit of a marching band, and the serenity of a grand organ…
