The French Chemical Society is holding its conference in Montpellier. It is hosting the Scientific Culture Department, Atome Hotel, and Chimie & Société, as well as SCF volunteers, to offer the public a full weekend of activities. Among the volunteers are many Professors researchers from the University of Montpellier.

To kick off the SCF18 conference, a weekend of events is being offered to the public in Montpellier.

Local stakeholders, conference attendees, and SCF members will offer a variety of workshops and demonstrations on the theme “Chemistry, Life, and the Environment”:

  • Biomimicry;
  • Extraction of active compounds from plants;
  • Biofuels;
  • New solvent-free extraction methods;
  • Air quality – pollution control;
  • CO2 capture;
  • Water quality.

The University of Montpellier’s Science Outreach Department will present the Atome Hôtel project. This is a collaborative web documentary designed to make the periodic table of elements engaging and fun. The association Les Petits Débrouillards will also offer workshops and demonstrations throughout the weekend.
