The French Chemical Society is organizing its conference in Montpellier. It is hosting the Scientific Culture department, Atome Hotel, Chemistry & Society, and SCF volunteers to offer the public a full weekend of activities. Among the volunteers are many Professors researchers from UM.

To kick off the SCF18 conference, a weekend of activities is being offered to the public in Montpellier.

Local stakeholders, conference attendees, and SCF members will offer a variety of workshops and demonstrations on the theme of "Chemistry, Life, and the Environment":

  • Biomimicry;
  • Extraction of active ingredients from plants;
  • Biofuels;
  • New solvent-free extraction methods;
  • Air quality – combating pollution;
  • CO2 capture;
  • Water quality.

The Scientific Culture Department of the University of Montpellier will present the Atome Hôtel project. This is a collaborative web documentary that aims to make the periodic table of elements attractive and fun. The Les Petits Débrouillards association will also be offering workshops and demonstrations throughout the weekend.
