The Société Chimique de France organizes its congress in Montpellier. It welcomes the Scientific Culture and Atome Hotel, Chemistry & Society departments, as well as SCF volunteers, to offer the public a full weekend of events. Volunteers include many UM Professors and researchers.

To open the SCF18 congress, a weekend of events is offered to the public in Montpellier.

Local players, delegates and SCF members will be offering a variety of workshops and demonstrations on the theme of "Chemistry, Life and the Environment":

  • Biomimicry ;
  • Extraction of active ingredients from plants;
  • Biofuels ;
  • New solvent-free extraction methods ;
  • Air quality - pollution control ;
  • CO2 capture ;
  • Water quality.

The Scientific Culture Department of the University of Montpellier will present the Atome Hôtel project. This collaborative web-documentary aims to make the periodic table of elements attractive and entertaining. The association Les Petits Débrouillards will also be offering workshops and demonstrations throughout the weekend.
