The Société Chimique de France organizes its congress in Montpellier. The Scientific Culture Department, Atome Hotel, Chimie & Société and SCF volunteers are on hand to offer the public a full weekend of events. Among the volunteers are many UM teaching and research staff.
To open the SCF18 congress, a weekend of events is offered to the public in Montpellier.
Local players, delegates and SCF members will be offering a variety of workshops and demonstrations on the theme of "Chemistry, Life and the Environment":
- Biomimicry ;
- Extraction of active ingredients from plants;
- Biofuels ;
- New solvent-free extraction methods ;
- Air quality - pollution control ;
- CO2 capture ;
- Water quality.
The Scientific Culture Department of the University of Montpellier will present the Atome Hôtel project. This collaborative web-documentary aims to make the periodic table of elements attractive and entertaining. The association Les Petits Débrouillards will also be offering workshops and demonstrations throughout the weekend.
