From Drug Development to Market Launch
The Program Capacity Buildingprogram, led by the University Innovation Hub at the University of Montpellier, offers targeted training in innovation and research commercialization. Through thematic modules led by experts, it supports the professional development of professionals involved in innovative projects.

This one-day training session will focus on structuring a drug development plan, from the research phases through to market access. It will enable participants to understand the key regulatory, clinical, and strategic milestones of a therapeutic project and to develop a coherent roadmap aligned with the expectations of health authorities. The morning will be devoted to understanding the various phases of development, while the afternoon will focus on interactions with regulatory agencies, funding challenges, and planning key milestones.
This session will cover the following topics:
- The stages of drug development, from preclinical phases to clinical phases I, II, and III;
- Market access processes and key regulatory frameworks, including marketing authorization and early access mechanisms;
- Interactions with national and international health agencies (ANSM, EMA, FDA) and the associated expectations;
- Creating a development roadmap that includes milestones, deliverables, and decision points;
- Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) and their use in project management;
- The main public funding opportunities, including the i-Lab and Horizon Europe programs;
- Practical examples aimed at structuring a robust, credible, and valuable development plan.
This training program is designed for professionals involved in therapeutic projects (small molecules, antibodies, gene or cell therapies) who wish to deepen their understanding of the development process and develop a strategy tailored to scientific, regulatory, and funding requirements.
