At first glance, it looks like a six-meter-tall white chandelier. In reality, the sculpture is made up of some 25,000 tampons…
The creative process of Joana Vasconcelos is based on the decontextualization and subversion of preexisting objects and everyday realities. The artist offers us a knowing and critical perspective on contemporary society and on expressions of collective identity that relate, in particular, to the status of women.
