"Protect MADA – Marine Area in the District of Analalava" is a project led by six ecology students from the Faculty of Science. It aims to create a community-managed marine protected area (CMMPA) on the island of Nosy Lava, a threatened jewel in northern Madagascar, and to develop exchanges between children from Montpellier and Madagascar. We traveled to the region of Analalava, on the small island of Nosy Lava, and to a village in the heart of the mangrove forest called Bevoay. The welcome we received in Sakalava territory, home to one of Madagascar's many ethnic groups, was very warm and filled with unforgettable encounters. For two months, we had the chance to discover the richness of this island, but also the dangers that threaten it: poaching, plundering of fishery resources, poverty, deforestation, etc. Through this photo exhibition, we invite you to share our wonderful experience and discover for yourself the many facets of this "red island."
