“Gender and Public Spaces: What Can We Do to Live Together More Harmoniously?”

  • Category: Discussions and debates over a shared meal
  • Dates: March 9, 2023
  • Schedule: at 12:15 p.m.
  • Location: Carcassonne - School of Education, park (or in the lobby in case of rain)

Hosted by Maddalena Pornaro and Virginie Terroitin, architects with the collective l amicale.

Are streets, public transportation, public spaces, and playgrounds neutral, gender-neutral spaces that are equally accessible to women and men?
Why do certain practices and behaviors differ by gender, and how can we design spaces so that everyone feels at home there?

We invite you to join the architectural collective l amicale for a discussion on this topic, drawing on your experiences, reflections, and ideas, while sharing a meal (everyone is asked to bring a small savory or sweet dish).

This event is part of the 2022/2023 artist residency at the Faculty of Education’s Carcassonne campus.

Open only to UM students and staff.
