The University of Montpellier’s Science Outreach Department, the Research Institute Research Development, the Occitanie region, and the Montpellier Méditerranée Métropole Media Library Network are pleased to announce the launch of the exhibition LITTERNATURE: Dinosaurs of Yesterday and Today.

The LITTERNATURE project is a science education program aimed at young audiences, with the primary goal of exploring biodiversity in children’s literature across all genres. The project aims to bring together the worlds of natural science and literature to raise young readers’ awareness of major themes such as evolution, classification, and biodiversity… by inviting children to create a large, participatory inventory of the biodiversity found in children’s literature.
After a first year devoted to plants and insects, LITTERNATURE now sets out to explore two new groups: dinosaurs and birds. The Françoise Giroud Media Library in Castries, part of the Montpellier metropolitan area’s media library network, will host the exhibition’s first installation starting in January 2023. It features numerous items from the University of Montpellier’s paleontological and ornithological collections, explanatory panels illustrated by author-illustrator Gilles Macagno, as well as various museum displays.
