For 3.8 billion years, nature has been implementing a process of evolutionary adaptation, selecting the most efficient and economical solutions in terms of energy and resources. Life itself, through its forms and structures, materials and processes, organization and ecosystems, is a formidable source of inspiration for researchers and engineers.

Bio-inspired approaches have developed rapidly and can act as a gas pedal for sustainable innovation in many fields: natural resource management, bioremediation, agriculture, energy, medicine, IT, robotics, green chemistry, nanotechnologies, transport and construction. It is widely recognized that the current challenges facing humanity - in particular global change, biodiversity erosion, habitat degradation, pollution, etc. - require new approaches and new technologies.

Research into the ecology, evolution and functional biology of animals, plants and micro-organisms can provide a wide range of potential avenues towards new approaches, new tools and new innovative technologies. Interdisciplinary collaboration between biologists, physicists, chemists, engineers and physicians can enable a highly fruitful and symbiotic exchange of information, which can enrich each discipline and create something entirely new.

The scientific day will be aimed at researchers, teachers, students, local businesses and other potential stakeholders, mainly from the biodiversity ecology scientific community, but will also include and be open to researchers from other fields.

In order to ensure that the event runs as smoothly as possible, the day will take place at Agropolis Fondation, where only the speakers will be physically present, allowing for a good level of exchange. The room's capacity will not allow the public to attend, but the day will be broadcast on Labex Cemeb's Youtube channel.
