Bioinspiration & Nature-Based Solutions Science Day
This event has passed!
Broadcast on YouTube
For 3.8 billion years, nature has been implementing a process of evolutionary adaptation that has selected the most effective and energy- and resource-efficient solutions. Living organisms, through their forms and structures, materials and processes, organization and ecosystems, are a tremendous source of inspiration for researchers and engineers.
Bio-inspired approaches have developed rapidly and can accelerate sustainable innovation in many areas: natural resource management, bioremediation, agriculture, energy, medicine, computing, robotics, green chemistry, nanotechnology, transportation, and construction. It is widely accepted that the challenges currently facing humanity, in particular global change, biodiversity loss, habitat degradation, pollution, etc., require new approaches and new technologies.
Research into the ecology, evolution, and functional biology of animals, plants, and microorganisms can provide a wide range of potential avenues toward new approaches, tools, and innovative technologies. Interdisciplinary collaboration between biologists, physicists, chemists, engineers, and physicians can enable a highly fruitful and symbiotic exchange of information, which can enrich each discipline and create something entirely new.
The science day will be aimed at researchers, teachers, students, local businesses, and other potential stakeholders, mainly from the scientific community in ecology and biodiversity, but it will also include and be open to researchers from other fields.
In order to ensure that this event goes ahead as planned, it will take place at Agropolis Fondation, where only the speakers will be physically present, allowing for a good level of discussion. The room capacity will not allow for an audience, but the day's events will be broadcast on the Labex Cemeb YouTube channel.
