Journées scientifiques Agropolis, Montpellier - Call for papers

  • Category:
  • Dates : November 28-29, 2022
  • Opening hours: 09h00 - 18h00
  • Location:

LabEx CEMEB is organizing two scientific days on November 28 and 29, 2022, on Ecosystem Services / Nature's Contribution to Humankind (session 1 - November 28) and Nature-based Solutions (session 2 - November 29), at Agropolis, Montpellier.

Session 2 - Nature-based solutions - 29/11/2022

The organizing committee invites you to submit presentations of projects (research work or achievements) corresponding to the Nature-based Solutions concept, and which may be carried out by research laboratories, companies, local authorities, institutions or natural area managers in the Occitanie region.

Nature-based solutions (NBS) are defined by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as: "actions aimed at protecting, sustainably managing and restoring natural or modified ecosystems to directly address societal challenges in an efficient and adaptive manner, while ensuring human well-being and producing benefits for biodiversity". Projects and initiatives should therefore seek to produce a net benefit for biodiversity, while responding to societal challenges identified in the region: climate change mitigation and adaptation, natural risk prevention and reduction, health preservation and improvement, food security (via agroecology, for example), water supply, and/or socio-economic development (via the circular economy, for example).

As the approach to building projects on this theme is still in its infancy, the present call for papers aims to list projects and achievements in Occitania that include a work and application component that clearly corresponds to the above philosophy, but does not meet all the criteria defined in the IUCN world standard.

The day (program in progress), will include introductory lectures to present the concept of SFN (history, definitions and issues for research, methodological approach of the IUCN world standard), exemplary research projects, emerging research projects and achievements carried out by players in Occitanie (local authorities, institutions, companies, managers of natural areas).

Organizing committee: Xavier Le Roux, Martine Hossaert, Philippe Jarne, Alan Vergnes, Ophélie Ronce, Sophie Boutin, Gaëlle Mathieu-Hernande.
