The Great African Rift, at the confluence of time

Three researchers from the CNRS are combining their knowledge and disciplines to decipher the current, past, and future challenges and issues facing the East African Rift Valley. Often considered the cradle of humanity, the Rift stretches over 4,000 km and crosses 16 countries, forming a major area of interaction between societies and environments.
With the participation of Christel Tiberi, physicist and seismologist (OREME, University of Montpellier, Geosciences Montpellier), Sandrine Prat, paleoanthropologist (Musée de l’Homme – MNHN), and Jessie Cauliez, archaeologist and ethnoarchaeologist (TRACES laboratory in Toulouse).
