The Great African Rift, at the Crossroads of Time

Three CNRS researchers are combining their expertise and disciplines to analyze the current, past, and future challenges and issues facing the East African Rift Valley. Often regarded as the cradle of humanity, the Rift Valley—which stretches over 4,000 km and spans 16 countries—serves as a major hub of interaction between societies and their environments.

Featuring Christel Tiberi, physicist and seismologist (OREME, University of Montpellier, Géosciences Montpellier); Sandrine Prat, paleoanthropologist (Musée de l’Homme – MNHN); and Jessie Cauliez, archaeologist and ethnoarchaeologist (TRACES Laboratory in Toulouse).
