The Great African Rift, at the Crossroads of Time

Three female researchers from the CNRS are combining their expertise and disciplines to analyze the current, past, and future challenges and issues facing the East African Rift Valley. Often considered the cradle of humanity, the Rift—which stretches over 4,000 km and crosses 16 countries—serves as a major space for interaction between societies and environments.

Featuring Christel Tiberi, physicist and seismologist (OREME, University of Montpellier, Géosciences Montpellier); Sandrine Prat, paleoanthropologist (Musée de l’Homme – MNHN); and Jessie Cauliez, archaeologist and ethnoarchaeologist (TRACES laboratory in Toulouse).
