The Fantasy Weekend “Dreams and Nightmares” (1st edition)

Screenings of short films, discussions, and performances will take place throughout the weekend, exploring the theme of the fantastic in art, in keeping with the theme chosen for the 2019 edition.

In addition, the festival is hosting contests for short films, posters, and short stories. The awards ceremony for each category will take place on Saturday, May 4 at 10 a.m. and will be followed by a screening of short films. As a bonus, the posters will be on display and the selected short stories will be published in an anthology.

The Dead West: Modern Western – Old Settings, New Challenges!

Students from the MMI department (MMI2 work-study program and Bachelor’s in Digital Media) are filming a modern Western in the famous settings of Spaghetti Westerns.

The project The Dead West aims to immerse vocational students MMI (Multimedia and Internet Professions) in the real-world setting of the audiovisual industry in Almería. A unique opportunity to use the studios and sets that made the Spaghetti Westerns—and particularly Sergio Leone’s films—famous (the Tabernas Desert and its protected natural area). For over a year, the teaching team has developed a training program at the Oasys Mini-Hollywood studios, where students filmed a Western-style short film from March 15 to 24, 2019.
