December 2, 2025: APCs and Alternatives to Open Access Publishing

If you’ve ever considered publishing in open access, you’ve most likely already heard of APC, or “Article Processing Charges”: some publishers do indeed allow scientific publications to be made available in open access in exchange for a publication fee.

This funding model is extremely costly and difficult to sustain in the long term. However, there are alternatives—less well-known to researchers—for publishing in open access without having to pay publication fees.

The purpose of the webinar is to explain how APCs work and to present these alternative solutions.

These webinars will then be posted on the UM’s YouTube channel, in the “Science” playlist. You can watch them whenever you like.
