CNRS's "Unexpected Escapades": Science Encounters Lost Worlds

On Saturday, October 17, the public is invited to meet researchers—including paleontologists, paleobotanists, and ecologists—at the event “Les Echappées inattendues du CNRS : Science Encounters Lost Worlds.”

On the program: short talks and demo sessions to explore vanished worlds and learn about the research being conducted today to better understand their history.

How does paleontology—through the study of fossils and ancient climates—tell us fascinating stories? How have species adapted to climate upheavals? What do these transformations teach us about current global changes? By studying these patterns of adaptation, scientists are unraveling the mechanisms of biodiversity and biological evolution to anticipate future trends.

Talk with researchers and take part in demonstration lectures, mini-lectures, educational and interactive workshops, documentary screenings, and more… Stroll through the exhibition showcasing research conducted by scientific teams across the Occitanie region… Discover unique fossils from the University of Montpellier’s paleontological collection, on special display to the general public.

The science activities and exhibition will take place from September 29 to October 31 at the Pierresvives Departmental Estate.
