Predatory publishers
This event is over!
The UM's Open Science and Research Support team continues its program of webinars on Open Science!
These webinars cover topics such as Open Science, scientific publications, research data and digital identifiers.
They take place every other Tuesday, between 11am and 12pm, with a presentation (between 20 and 40 minutes) and a time for discussion.
The webinar on March 18, 2025, from 11am to 12pm, will be on the theme of "Predatory publishers".
With the spread of Open Access, two competing economic models have emerged: the diamond model (free to both author and reader) and the APC model (publication fees paid by the author or his institution). Unfortunately, the latter has led to a proliferation of "predatory" publishers. Unscrupulous about the scientific quality of published articles, they represent a trap to be avoided at all costs by researchers.
This presentation will focus on publishers considered to be predatory or in a "grey zone", the phenomenon of predatory conferences and, finally, the more emerging phenomenon of paper mills, fostered by artificial intelligence. This webinar will provide you with the tools and reflexes you need to protect yourself.
