Live Science & OREME Society
This event has passed!
Faced with major environmental challenges (climate change, loss of biodiversity, natural hazards), science plays a vital role in understanding what is happening today and preparing for what tomorrow may bring.
See you on November 13 at 9:30 a.m. on the University of Montpellier YouTube channel to watch the live stream!
Because science does not advance on its own. It is built in the field, in classrooms, in town halls, in the media, on social networks, and sometimes even in creative studios!
OREME's Science & Society Day brings togetherscientists, teachers, local government officials, elected representatives, scientific/cultural mediators, and journalists to discuss concrete examples of science serving society.
The morning session, open to everyone, will be broadcast live from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the University of Montpellier YouTube channel and on the OREME website.
On the agenda:
- a carte blanche by Patrick Lemaire, Director of Research at the CNRS and President of the Collège des Sociétés Savantes Académiques de France (College of Academic Learned Societies of France);
- feedback from scientists and their partners on concrete actions relating to urban biodiversity, natural hazards, science in schools, and the sharing of scientific data.
AND ALSO! Three participatory workshops (not filmed) will be held on site in the afternoon with the City of Montpellier, Genopolys, La Gazette de Montpellier, and the AJSPI (Association of Science Journalists in the News Media):
- Workshop 1 – Data: presenting and communicating observational data to students.
- Workshop 2 – Journalists and scientists: better understanding each other for better communication.
- Workshop 3 – Science communication: developing effective communication initiatives!
