OREME's Live Science & Society
This event has already taken place!
In the face of major environmental challenges (climate change, biodiversity loss, natural hazards), science plays a vital role in helping us understand what is happening today and prepare for what the future holds.
See you on November 13 at 9:30 a.m. on the the University of Montpellier’s YouTube channel to watch the live stream!
Because science doesn’t advance on its own. It takes shape in the field, in classrooms, in city halls, in the media, on social media, and sometimes even in creative studios!
OREME’s Science & Society Day brings togetherscientists, teachers, local government officials, elected officials, science and cultural mediators, and journalists to discuss concrete examples of how science serves society.
The event, which is open to everyone, will be streamed live from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the University of Montpellier’s YouTube channel and on the OREME website.
On the agenda:
- an open letter from Patrick Lemaire, research director at the CNRS and president of the College of Academic Learned Societies of France;
- feedback from scientists and their partners on concrete initiatives related to urban biodiversity, natural hazards, science education, and the sharing of scientific data.
AND ALSO! Three interactive workshops (not filmed) will be held on-site in the afternoon in collaboration with the City of Montpellier, Genopolys, La Gazette de Montpellier, and the AJSPI (Association of Science Journalists in the News Media):
- Workshop 1 – Data: Presenting and Sharing Observation Data with Students.
- Workshop 2 – Journalists and Scientists: Building Mutual Understanding to Improve Communication.
- Workshop 3 – Science Communication: Developing Science Communication Initiatives That Hit the Mark!
