Speaking Across Borders (2): Networking and Community Building

  • Category: CHARM-ON Webinar
  • Dates: March 30, 2026
  • Schedule: From 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM
  • Location: Online

The Charm-EU alliance of European universities presents CHARM-ON, a series of monthly webinars designed to explore and share innovative teaching practices. In March: Episode #5 on networking and community building.

This new episode of the webinar focuses on networking and community building, which are essential foundations for fostering collaboration within a transnational university alliance. As universities increasingly work across institutional, disciplinary, and cultural boundaries, the question is no longer whether to cooperate, but rather how to build sustainable communities capable of supporting long-term cooperation.

Drawing on experiences from Charm-EU’s networking initiatives, this discussion will explore how structured networking formats can go beyond interpersonal connections to build genuine communities of practice. It will highlight how intentional design, tailored facilitation, and shared guiding principles can strengthen inclusive participation, knowledge exchange, and trust among institutions.

The speakers will explore together how intentional design, tailored facilitation, and shared guiding principles can strengthen inclusive participation, knowledge exchange, and trust among institutions.

Featuring: Marion Hayaoui (UM), Marta Molino Benitez (UM), Oscar Henriksson (Åbo Akademi University, Finland), and Simone Roth (Ruhr-West University of Applied Sciences, Germany).

Every last Monday of the month at 1:00 p.m., CHARM-ON hosts a supportive forum for sharing ideas, best practices, and personal experiences within the Charm-EU academic community. Faculty members, researchers, students, administrative staff… Drawing on their real-world experiences, they offer concrete insights into the implementation of the alliance’s pedagogical principles: challenge-based learning, mobility, interculturality, responsible innovation… These exchanges aim to facilitate the adoption of best practices developed within Charm-EU by staff at partner universities and to encourage their participation in the training programs offered throughout the year.

The next webinar will be held in late April. All of the podcasts are available on Spotify.
