See you on Sunday, March 23, 2025, starting at 10:00 a.m. on Boulevard Henri IV in Montpellier for the 20th edition of this annual celebration of rare plants and the protection of biodiversity in the unique setting of Montpellier's Jardin des Plantes, the oldest botanical garden in France.

History

It all started with a simple question from an intern: why not organize a plant festival?

The first event was held on Sunday, March 20, 2005, and was a small gathering of enthusiasts. Twenty years later, it has become an annual event for lovers of rare plants and environmentalists!

Today

Nursery growers, environmental protection associations, specialist book publishers, visual artists, agricultural colleges and speakers await you at the Jardin des Plantes for this major event.

With around fifty nurseries and fifteen associations, you'll be spoiled for choice!

Local or exotic plants, cacti or epiphytes, edible or dye plants, for the balcony, indoors or in the garden? Look no further, it's at Primavera, but be warned, it only lasts one day a year!

67 booths

This year, no fewer than 50 nursery growers from all over the south of France, including 5 newcomers, will be there for you, along with 12 environmental protection associations, 1 specialist publisher, and 4 artists.

3 lectures (Institute of Botany)

As for conferences, ask for the program! Each conference lasts 45 minutes.

  • 2:00 p.m.: "In search of agriculture and forests of the past: an archaeobotanical investigation" by Jérôme ROS, Research Fellow at the Institute of Evolutionary Sciences in Montpellier.
  • 3:00 p.m.: "Facing aridity, the power of trees" – Moroccan and peasant inspirations for agroforestry by Geneviève Michon, Ethnobotanist, Emeritus Research Director at IRD ( Research Institute Research Development).
  • 4:00 p.m.: "Boissier de Sauvages and Linnaeus, a thirty-year friendship" by Thierry LAVABRE-BERTRAND, Director Emeritus of the Jardin des Plantes.

Events close at 6:00 p.m.
