Street Science: A Greener City!
This event has already taken place!
The University of Montpellier is offering a new science-themed walking tour where visitors can explore, play, and learn: Launch of the exhibition“Street Science: A Greener City!”
"Street Science: A Greener City!" is a science walk that tackles a crucial issue of our time: making the city greener. It invites participants to explore the challenges and benefits of a greener city for well-being, health, urban biodiversity, combating heat islands, water management, and urban agriculture.
It also prompts us to reflect on the choices that must be made regarding the tree species used, so that a greener city does not become one where allergies and vector-borne infectious diseases are more common. This scientific tour, full of surprises, is open to everyone and offered free of charge at the Jardin des Plantes in Montpellier.
This exhibition allows visitors of all ages to:
- visit the Montpellier Botanical Garden;
- play by searching for signs and images that will reveal their secrets through augmented reality using a smartphone and the Street Science app;
- Learn about the challenges of urban greening: Why is it important to build a greener city for the future? What are the key considerations to keep in mind when greening a city?
