Roundtable Discussion: “Gender-Based and Sexual Violence: Gaining a Better Understanding to Better Support Victims”

  • Category:
  • Dates: March 23, 2021
  • Schedule: 12:15 PM – 1:45 PM
  • Location:

Via videoconference; registration required.

For several years now, the University has been taking action against gender-based and sexual violence, notably by launching various awareness-raising initiatives and by improving the support and assistance provided to victims.

The purpose of this roundtable discussion is to work together to outline an informational resource that addresses the following questions: What does the law generally say? What can the university do to protect victims and support them? What procedures can be initiated within the university? How can we understand what the victim is going through? What can their professional or academic peers do? Or any other questions you feel are important to address.

This resource will help victims—who are often too stressed to fully understand all the information provided—to process it.

Speakers:

  • Prof. Agnès Fichard-Caroll, Executive Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility;
  • Prof. Marie-Christine Sordino, Vice President for Ethics and Professional Conduct and professor and researcher in criminal law;
