Vernissage "La peine" - Photographic residency
Mathis Benestebe's creative residency at the UM is drawing to a close. Come and discover the results of his photographic work, carried out on the Triolet campus since September 2024.

To conclude his residency, Mathis Benestebe takes you on a journey into space with his exhibition entitled "La Peine".
An exhibition to be discovered at the (S)tation, on the first floor of the (S)pace on the Triolet Campus, from October 14, 2025 at 6:30pm in the presence of the artist.
The exhibition will then be on view from October 15 to December 12, 2025, Monday to Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., with free admission.
The exhibition features 39 photographic self-portraits printed on mylar, an experimental film, a giant trombinoscope of student and staff portraits, and the hand-crafted spacesuit.
"It's better to try something than nothing. This is the theme I'm exploring in my new work, entitled La peine, developed during my residency at the University of Montpellier. It's about trying to get out of this torpor, when the world is filled with so much violence and our actions seem futile. In this despair, I choose to act alone, absurdly alone, but to act all the same. To give in to the temptation to save ourselves, to desert the world and its countless challenges."
