Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID)

UM Open Science and Research Support team is continuing its series of webinars on open science!

These webinars cover various topics related to open science, scientific publications, research data, and digital identifiers.

They take place every other Tuesday, between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., and include a presentation (lasting between 20 and 40 minutes) followed by a discussion.

ORCID, which stands for Open Researcher and Contributor IDentifier, is an international system that allows researchers to create a unique and permanent digital identifier (ORCID ID) to uniquely identify them. The ORCID profile has thus become an essential part of a researcher’s digital identity and accompanies them throughout their career. In 2025,UM a campaign to encourage the creation and maintenance of ORCID IDs by offering to certify the accounts of UM researchers. 

Following a brief theoretical introduction, this webinar will show you how to create your ORCID ID and set up your profile by leveraging interoperability with databases (HAL, Crossref, etc.) to expand your list of publications.
