“14/18, Medicine on the Battlefield”: A Virtual Exhibition

From major scientific breakthroughs to campus life during wartime, dive into the heart of four years that changed the history of the world… and the history of medicine.

Explore the online exhibition “14/18 Medicine on the Battlefield.” Presented in 2014 at the School of Medicine, this exhibition attracted more than 3,000 visitors in just a few weeks. You can now view it at a new virtual format.

Drawing on archival documents, artifacts from the Montpellier Anatomy Museum and private collections, books and dissertations held at the University Medical Library, and Dr. Morlock’s research, she describes the context in Montpellier, life at the front and conditions of care, the medical advances of the time, and briefly traces the life stories of the doctors, students, and faculty staff who lost their lives there.

This exhibition has been online since November 18, 2016, to mark the19th European University Heritage Day, whose theme is “The Legacy of the 1914–18 War.”
