A l'UM la science [S02-ep22] : From Marie Huot to Eurostim

This week in A l'UM la science, Sylvain Wagnon, researcher at the Lirdef presents his latest book entitled Marie Huot: libertarian, neo-Malthusian, anti-speciesist, theosophist... In the second half of the program Euromov where Alexandre Legros opens the doors of the Eurostim. Broadcast on Divergence FM 93.9 every Wednesday at 6pm.

Black lives matter, Me too, Balance ton porc, Les marches des fiertés, Youth for climate, L214, Extinction rébellion. The beginning of the 21st century is marked by a number of demands: more social justice, of course, but above all more equality between the sexes, between genders, between "races", between living humans and non-humans... Movements that display their desire to converge struggles, to bring together under the same banner feminism, animalism and anti-racism as the result of the same system of domination. Intersectionality, as it is called, has become the scarecrow of conservatives of all stripes, who see it as the ultimate threat to a fantasized tradition.

And yet, if I were to tell you that at the end of the 19th century, women were already fighting not only for greater social justice, but also for their own emancipation and against animal abuse, using arguments that would become those of intersectionality. Close to the famous Louise Michel and the anarchist movement, Marie Huot was one of these fighters who was at once libertarian, feminist, anti-speciesist and theosophical.

Our guest is Sylvain Wagnon, a researcher at Lirdef, the interdisciplinary research laboratory in didactics, education and training, who has just published a book entitled Marie Huot : libertaire, néomalthusienne, antispéciste, théosophe... , published by Atelier de création libertaire in April. In it, he demonstrates the topicality of her struggle, drawing parallels between Marie Huot's belly strike at the end of the 19th century and the Birth strike for the future movement launched in 2019.

In the second half of the program, we take you to Euromov. Alexandre Legros opens the doors of the Eurostim platform to stimulate your central and peripheral nervous systems and define more precisely the standards of exposure to electromagnetic fields, and possibly treat certain neurodegenerative diseases.

At UM la science you've got the program, here we go!
