Doctoral Degree Conferment Ceremony at the University of Montpellier

On Monday, June 16, 2025, the annual graduation ceremony honoring doctoral students from the University of Montpellier will take place at the Corum in Montpellier, beginning at 4:00 p.m. Last year, the graduation ceremony brought together more than 236 doctoral students. This event, which is central to the academic community, will take place in the Pasteur Auditorium before the traditional hat-tossing and procession through the streets of Montpellier (from the Corum to the Arc de Triomphe).

The full program for the ceremony 

The event will begin at 3:30 p.m. with coffee and refreshments in the Pasteur Lounge. The formal ceremony will start at 3:45 p.m., featuring speeches by officials, the presentation of interdisciplinary awards, and the ceremony organized by doctoral schools, and will continue until 6:30 p.m.

Following the graduation ceremony, the traditional hat-tossing will take place on the plaza in front of the Corum. The procession of doctoral students will then make its way to the Jardin des Plantes, passing through Place de la Comédie and the Arc de Triomphe.

At the end of the day, starting at 7:30 p.m., the exhibition “Portraits of PhD Students” will give visitors the opportunity to meet several young PhD candidates who successfully defended their dissertations during the 2023–2024 academic year.
