Charm-EU: A summer university and conference under the banner of Europe

The University of Montpellier is hosting the first summer school for doctoral researchers organized by the Charm-EU alliance of European universities. On this occasion, the international conference "Connecting knowledge, shaping futures: transdisciplinarity in research" on June 24, 2025 will feature a series of inspiring talks by researchers from nine prestigious European universities.

From June 23 to 27, 2025, 26 European doctoral researchers will be in Montpellier for the Charm-EU summer university for doctoral researchers . This first edition will focus on Europe and transdisciplinarity. This summer school is an opportunity for participants from different disciplines to work together on a transdisciplinary research project, under the guidance of experienced researchers. The program includes numerous collaborative workshops.

Transdisciplinarity gets research moving

Also on Tuesday June 24: a one-day international conference entitled "Bridging minds, shaping futures: transdisciplinarity in research", to be attended in person or online. 9 experts, 9 European universities, 9 research themes... This conference presents a non-exhaustive and inspiring panorama of projects within the universities of the European Charm-EU alliance. The invited international speakers are leading researchers who have put transdisciplinarity at the heart of their work. What they have in common is excellence in research and a deep commitment to contributing to a more sustainable society. Their fields of expertise are vast: philosophy, law, physics, hydrogeology, epidemiology, medicine... Giving them the floor is an opportunity to show that transdisciplinarity can get research moving. A formidable source of inspiration for tomorrow's research.

The opening of the conference, attended by Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, will also be an opportunity for the UM to honor the winners of the Prix de thèse interdisciplinaire 2024 of the Collège doctoral de l'Université de Montpellier.

UM at the heart of Europe with Charm-EU

Initiated in 2019 as part of the first Erasmus + call for projects from European Universities, Charm-EU is an alliance of nine prestigious European universities that aims to develop a common innovative model to improve the quality, international competitiveness and attractiveness of European higher education. The Charm-EU alliance currently includes: University of Barcelona (Spain), Trinity College Dublin (Ireland), Utrecht University (Netherlands), Eötvös Loránd University (Hungary), University of Montpellier (France), Åbo Akademi University (Finland), University of Wurtzbürg (Germany), Ruhr-West University of Applied Sciences (Germany), University of Bergen (Norway).
