[Take-off #5] Setting up a project in the regions

Benoît Bardy is a researcher at the Euromov digital health in motion laboratory. He developed the BeatMove smartphone application with support from the Occitanie Region. He talks to us about it in the video series "Décollage" (Take-off) proposed by the Direction de l'innovation et des partenariats (Dipa) of the University of Montpellier.

Behavioral neuroscience researcher Benoît Bardy has developed BeatMove, a smartphone application that synchronizes movement and music in real time. Human movement is rhythmic ," explains the scientist. In this application, the rhythm of sound is used to stabilize the rhythm of walking in patients suffering from Parkinson's disease, for example. "

While his research work was supported by the European Commission, the maturation process to bring it to fruition was carried out with the Occitanie Region. " Thanks to Dipa's support, I discovered that the region and its ecosystem had everything it needed to ensure this transfer ," explains Benoît Bardy. With the support of the University of Montpellier, he is now providing scientific support to BeatHealth, the company developing the application.
