[Takeoff #5] Launching Your Project in a Regional Area

Benoît Bardy is a researcher at the Euromov Digital Health in Motion laboratory. He developed the BeatMove smartphone app with support from the Occitanie Region. He discusses it in the “Décollage” video series produced by the University of Montpellier’s Department of Innovation and Partnerships (Dipa).

Benoît Bardy, a researcher in behavioral neuroscience, has developed BeatMove, a smartphone app that synchronizes movement and music in real time. “Human movement is rhythmic ,”explains the scientist. “In this app, the rhythm of the sound is used to stabilize the walking rhythm of patients with Parkinson’s disease, for example.”

While his research was supported by the European Commission, the process of developing it into a viable venture was carried out in collaboration with the Occitanie Region.“Thanks to the support of the DIPA, I discovered that the Region and its ecosystem had everything needed to ensure this transfer,”explains Benoît Bardy. With the support of the University of Montpellier, he now provides scientific expertise to BeatHealth, the company developing the app.
