EcoDoR: A Day Dedicated to Structuring the Research Data Ecosystem in Montpellier
On May 27, 2025, the EcoDoR Data Workshop is hosting a day of discussions on research data management as part of the “Spring of Data” initiative. This event, co-organized with the Montpellier Institute of Data Science (ISDM), will take place on the Triolet campus of the University of Montpellier.
An ecosystem is taking shape around research data
Established in December 2022, the EcoDoR Data Workshop (toward a research data ecosystem in Montpellier) is part of the national network of data workshops, led by the Research Douv platform. Its primary mission is to provide entry-level support to research teams, Professors, researchers, doctoral students, and support staff across all disciplines.
Led by the University of Montpellier in collaboration with ISDM, EcoDoR draws on a network of major partners: CIRAD, the Montpellier and Nîmes University Hospitals, the CNRS, ENSCM, INRAE, INRIA, INSERM, Institut Agro, IRD, and, soon, AgroParisTech.
The system is based on a one-stop shop designed to simplify procedures for researchers by centralizing requests and referring them to specialized services when necessary. The goal is to pool expertise while ensuring subsidiarity, in order to make the range of data management support services more transparent: drafting data management plans (DMPs), selecting repositories, training, awareness-raising, and individualized support.
A day dedicated to raising awareness, providing training, and offering support
On May 27, 2025, the EcoDoR workshop is organizing a day dedicated to data management, developed in collaboration with ISDM, as part of the “Spring of Data” initiative. The event aims to put EcoDoR’s initiatives into practice within local research communities.
In the morning, speakers will present tools and approaches for improving data management, as well as the support available for developing data management platforms (DMPs) in a local context. In the afternoon, hands-on workshops will give participants the opportunity to discuss specific cases and ask experts questions.
This day also marks the official launch of the EcoDoR one-stop shop, which symbolizes the partners’ commitment to providing a coordinated, operational, and sustainable solution to the challenges associated with research data management.
