EcoDoR: a day to structure the research data ecosystem in Montpellier
On May 27, 2025, the EcoDoR data workshop is organizing a day of discussions on research data management as part of the Spring of Data event. This event, co-organized with the Montpellier Institute of Data Science (ISDM), will take place on the Triolet campus of the University of Montpellier.
An ecosystem under construction around research data
Certified in December 2022, the EcoDoR data workshop (towards a research data ecosystem in Montpellier) is part of the national network of data workshops, led by the Research douv platform. Its main mission is to provide first-level support to research teams, Professors, researchers, doctoral students, and support staff across all disciplines.
Supported by the University of Montpellier in conjunction with ISDM, EcoDoR draws on a network of major partners: CIRAD, Montpellier and Nîmes University Hospitals, CNRS, ENSCM, INRAE, INRIA, Inserm, Institut Agro, IRD, and soon AgroParisTech.
The system is based on a one-stop shop to simplify procedures for researchers by centralizing requests and referring them to specialized services when necessary. The aim is to pool expertise while ensuring subsidiarity, in order to make the support offered for data management more transparent: drafting data management plans (DMPs), choosing repositories, training, awareness-raising, and individualized support.
A day to raise awareness, train, and provide support
On May 27, 2025, the EcoDoR workshop is organizing a day dedicated to data management, co-organized with ISDM, as part of the Spring of Data event. This day aims to bring EcoDoR's actions to life within local research communities.
In the morning, speakers will present tools and approaches for better data management, as well as the support available for drafting DMPs (data management platforms) in a local context. In the afternoon, practical workshops will allow participants to discuss specific cases and ask questions to experts.
This day also marks the official launch of the EcoDoR one-stop shop, symbolizing the partners' commitment to providing a coordinated, operational, and sustainable response to the challenges of research data management.
