EcoDoR: a day to structure the research data ecosystem in Montpellier

On May 27, 2025, the EcoDoR data workshop is organizing a day of exchanges around research data management, as part of the Spring of Data. This event, co-organized with the Institut de science des données de Montpellier (ISDM), will take place on the Triolet campus of the University of Montpellier.

Building an ecosystem around research data

Approved in December 2022, the EcoDoR data workshop (Towards a research data ecosystem in Montpellier) is part of the national network of data workshops, steered by the Research data douv platform. Its main mission is to offer first-level support to research teams, Professors, researchers, doctoral students and support staff in all disciplines.

Led by the University of Montpellier in conjunction with ISDM, EcoDoR relies on a network of major partners: CIRAD, the Montpellier and Nîmes university hospitals, CNRS, ENSCM, INRAE, INRIA, INSERM, Institut Agro, IRD, and soon AgroParisTech.

The system is based on a one-stop shop to simplify the process for researchers, by centralizing requests and directing them to specialized services where necessary. The aim is to pool skills while guaranteeing subsidiarity, in order to make the range of data management support available more transparent: drafting of data management plans (DMPs), choice of repositories, training, awareness-raising and individualized support.

A day of awareness-raising, training and support

On May 27, 2025, the EcoDoR workshop is organizing a day dedicated to data management, co-constructed with ISDM, as part of the Data Spring. The aim of this day is to give concrete expression to EcoDoR's actions with local research communities.

In the morning, speakers will present tools and approaches for better data management, as well as the support available for the drafting of DMPs (data management platforms) in a local context. In the afternoon, practical workshops will enable participants to discuss concrete cases and put their questions to experts.

The day also marks the official opening of the EcoDoR one-stop shop, a symbol of the partners' determination to offer a coordinated, operational and sustainable response to the challenges of research data management.
