Thai Boxing in the Spotlight
In 2023, he won the world Muay Thai championship while simultaneously pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Physical and Sports Sciences and Techniques (STAPS), with a concentration in sports training. Today, Adrien Rubis is a sports instructor at the University Department of Physical and Sports Activities (SUAPS), where he coaches Muay Thai and fitness. He also stars in the documentary miniseries *Underdog*, which premieres on October 7.

In the world of Muay Thai, the underdog is the one everyone expects to lose: the challenger. Adrien Rubis knows this role well. All his life, he’s had to fight against the odds and those who underestimated him. Yet behind this image of an underdog lies an extraordinary individual. Through sheer willpower, discipline, sacrifice, and a visceral desire to silence his detractors, Adrien defied expectations and went on to win the world championship title. Today, after years away from boxing, he decides—at nearly 40 years old—to step back into the ring for one last fight. But before facing his opponent, his past comes back to haunt him. As he returns to the country that crowned him champion, one question remains: Will Adrien Rubis still be the underdog?
