The University of Montpellier and TotalEnergies Sign a Partnership to Promote Training for Careers in the Energy Sector

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, at 2:15 p.m., the University of Montpellier and TotalEnergies will sign a partnership agreement aimed at strengthening ties between academia and the business world for the benefit of students in the Master’s program with a specialization in Energy at the Faculty of Sciences. The signing ceremony will take place in the presence of Isabelle Patrier, Country Manager for France at TotalEnergies, and Philippe Augé, President of the University of Montpellier, and Jean-Michel Marin, Dean of the Faculty of Sciences. Also in attendance will be Philippe Combette, Vice President for Partnerships and Innovation at the University of Montpellier; Lionel Torres, Director of Polytech Montpellier; and Sylvain Panas, Regional Director of TotalEnergies Occitanie.

A partnership structured around four key areas

The purpose of this agreement is to promote collaboration between the academic community and stakeholders in the energy sector in order to support students in their education, help them explore career paths, and facilitate their transition into the workforce.

  • The involvement of TotalEnergies professionals in teaching, particularly through the TotalEnergies Associate Professors program, to provide academic content and insights on the challenges of the energy transition;
  • Organizing conferences and thematic meetings focused on developments in the energy sector;
  • Organizing tours of TotalEnergies’ industrial and energy sites in Occitanie and southern France (solar power plants, anaerobic digestion facilities, the operations center, the SAFT plant in Bordeaux, etc.), with travel expenses covered for the participating students and faculty;
  • Facilitating access to internships, work-study programs, and job opportunities offered by TotalEnergies to promote the professional integration of students.
