First session of the Montpellier 2025 Innovation Booster

From February 5 to 7, 2025, the University of Montpellier, the lead institution of the University Innovation Cluster (PUI), organized the first session of the year for the Montpellier Innovation Booster (BIM). Six aspiring innovators participated in this meeting, determined to turn their ideas into concrete solutions, whether through business creation, public-private partnerships, or technology transfer.

Over the course of three days, these project leaders took part in workshops, lectures, and coaching sessions. The main goal was to prepare them for the decisive pitch—a challenge in which each participant had to present their project in just three minutes before a panel of experts.

A variety of projects

Among the projects presented, two focused on agriculture. One aimed to develop an app to make it easier to adopt an existing soil health method, while the other proposed a spatially resolved rainfall-runoff modeling platform. Three other projects focused on human health: a device for male incontinence, a solution to improve the management of invasive vascular devices, and a freeze-drying proposal dedicated to quality control for various medical conditions. Finally, the last project focused on finance with an app designed to support financial investments.

A catalyst for innovative projects

At the end of this session, four out of six participants submitted their applications to the University Innovation Hub’s Investment and Innovation Committee (COM’IN), which will select the winners and offer them funding to develop their projects. This event is part of the University Innovation Hub’s efforts to identify and support innovative projects. Each year, this program serves as a true catalyst for project leaders, offering them not only tools but also a network of experts, partners, and funders to help them reach the next level.

The next BIM will take place on April 8, 9, and 10, 2025. You have until March 7 to register and give your project a fresh start.
