Back to summer visits at the Jardin des Plantes
Every year for almost 10 years, the team at the Jardin des plantes de l'Université de Montpellier has been offering guided tours on a variety of themes. Accessible to all and free of charge, visitors are welcomed from June 18 to September 5, 2024 in an intimate setting. These tours allow the general public to come and discover and talk directly with the Garden's staff during group visits on fixed dates.

A cultural, educational and fun event
Each tour takes place in one of the Jardin des Plantes' emblematic locations. They offer visitors the opportunity to learn about playful, practical or cultural themes.
Visits generally last 1h30. We strongly recommend that you bring a bottle of water and a hat. Although no prior registration is necessary, you should arrive 10 minutes beforehand at the garden's main entrance on boulevard Henri IV. A minimum age of 12 is recommended, as the tours cover a wide range of topics relating to the environment, climate and biodiversity. Tours are given in French and are entirely free of charge. Please let the guide know at the start of the tour if you find it difficult to stand for long periods.
The Jardin des Plantes is the oldest jewel in the crown of the Faculty of Medicine. Over four centuries of shared history unite these two institutions without interruption. The will of Henri IV in 1593, the 46,460 m² garden is home to over 4,000 species of plants in the open air, including 760 trees and 1,000 species of plants in greenhouses.
