“Science in Pictures: Life Is Beautiful,” a large-scale exhibition in the heart of the Jardin des Plantes

From September 29 through October 31, to celebrate its 20th anniversary, the MRI (Montpellier Ressources Imagerie) academic imaging and cytometry platform is presenting a unique exhibition of large-format microscopy photographs. It invites the public to discover the poetry of the world of the infinitely small, amid the tall trees of the Jardin des Plantes.

By invitation only

The living world is beautiful, and the appeal of microscopic images extends far beyond the scientific community. The exhibition “Science in Pictures: Life Is Beautiful” features 40 large-format photographs illustrating the work of the 800 scientists who use the MRI platform’s instruments. Animals, plants, or single-celled organisms? Selected for their aesthetic qualities, these images invite viewers to dream as much as they provoke thought. Each photo includes its source and the scientists’ research objectives at the time the image was captured.

Art and Science in Symbiosis

Art and science seek to reveal the invisible and the unknown. The photographs on display show that science is not just about reason and rigor. Like art, it can stir emotions and inspire dreams. This exhibition, which bridges the worlds of art and science, aims to foster new connections between scientists and the general public.
