Seven Projects for the 19th Session of the Montpellier Innovation Booster

From July 7 to 9, the Montpellier Innovation Booster (BIM) brought together its 19th cohort at the Montpellier University Hospital. Over the course of three days, seven deep-tech projects received intensive support to shape their commercialization strategy and accelerate their development.

The selected projects illustrate the diversity of innovations stemming from public research. They focus in particular on: improving patient inclusion in clinical research; preventing gender-based and sexual violence among young people; more sustainable recycling of lithium batteries; soil analysis accessible via smartphone; the development of solvent-free chemical processes; new therapeutic approaches to inflammatory diseases; and an injectable hydrogel for the targeted treatment of prostate cancer.

During this session, project leaders received support from coaches, experts, and jury members representing key players in Montpellier’s innovation ecosystem. These included: Montpellier University Hospital and its innovation accelerator, the CNRS,INRAE, the SATT AxLR, and the University of Montpellier, represented by its Department of Innovation and Partnerships (DIPA) and its incubator, Initium.

Additional Support Services

Project structuring workshops, public speaking and pitching technique sessions, masterclasses, and role-playing exercises were offered to help the teams refine their projects and their value propositions. Participants particularly highlighted how the various support sessions complemented one another, as well as the valuable feedback provided by coaches, external speakers, and other project leaders during the numerous pitch rehearsals.

This 19th session also featured a talk by Sarah Colombani, founderof Occical Therapeutics (a startup based at the Center for Research Innovation in Health Biology at Montpellier University Hospital) and a former BIM participant, who came to share her entrepreneurial journey with the new teams. The next session of the Montpellier Innovation Booster will take place on October 20, 21, and 22, 2026, and registration is now open!
