Data Science for All Sciences

The Montpellier Institute of Data Science (ISDM) works to bring about lasting change in scientific practices by guiding all stakeholders toward data science and building an effective and sustainable environment.

Unite, Innovate, Support

The ISDM supports scientific projects in their entirety through an integrated and collaborative approach by offering:

  • Training courses tailored to all skill levels,
  • Local scientific and technical support,
  • Coordination of networks and events that promote the exchange of knowledge.

Our Initiatives

Project Support

ISDM Montpellier Data Clinic

We develop support mechanisms tailored to the needs of scientific communities:

  • Data Clinic: an innovative support program for researchers, doctoral students, engineers, and students. A scientific help desk is available to provide practical support for community projects, including personalized advice, assistance with technical issues, and help in overcoming specific obstacles. The Data Clinic can also actively collaborate with researchers to co-develop solutions tailored to their needs.
  • Targeted expertise: Our engineers specialize in (bio)informatics, (bio)statistics, artificial intelligence, FAIR data management, and more.

Training Programs to Build Skills

The short courses offered by ISDM are designed to support the evolving practices in the management, analysis, and utilization of research data. They are intended for all types of participants—researchers, engineers, doctoral students, and undergraduates—who wish to acquire or strengthen key skills in data science.

Each session combines a practical approach, accessibility, and scientific expertise, focusing on three main themes:

  • Artificial Intelligence: Explore the fundamentals and real-world applications of AI through introductory and specialized training courses.
  • Computing and Reproducibility: Hands-on workshops to master the fundamental tools of collaborative development and ensure the reproducibility of scientific analyses.
  • Statistics, Data Management, and Data Analysis: Training courses to learn the basics or advance your skills in statistical methods applied to data science.

Data Services

The ISDM facilitates access to high-performance technical environments:

  • Digital services: shared computing platforms, secure cloud, data anonymization tools, data-sharing tools, data analysis tools (notebooks), etc.
  • Best practices: guidance on using standards, metadata schemas, and data structuring.

Entertainment and Events

  • MBI (Montpellier Bioinformatics): a network of bioinformatics professionals in the region, promoting collaboration, training, and shared resources.
  • Les Halles de l’IA: a space for innovation and science outreach dedicated to artificial intelligence, at the intersection of science, society, and interdisciplinarity. A venue for experimentation, training, and public debate that brings together experts, experienced and novice users, decision-makers, students and teachers, and the general public.
