OREME focuses its scientific activities on natural hazards and the impact of global and anthropogenic changes on the Mediterranean region, drawing on the scientific and technical expertise of its partners in geosciences, hydrosciences, biodiversity sciences, and ecology. Its mission is: to support the implementation or development of systematic observation in space and environmental sciences; to support the creation of open, shared environmental databases that are internationally referenced; to encourage the pooling of analytical resources (observation, experimentation, modeling) and expertise; to serve as the local hub for national observation networks and position itself as a key player in Mediterranean-focused environmental initiatives. OREME therefore focuses on three fundamental questions: the origin and assessment of natural and anthropogenic hazards and disturbances; the recording of recent and current global changes, their links to anthropogenic factors, and in particular changes in the use of Mediterranean environments; the response of the systems and mechanisms involved. Drawing on the educational resources of the University of Montpellier for its educational mission, OREME focuses on its ability to mobilize extensive and sustainable observation resources and recognized scientific and technical expertise across a wide range of aspects of the Mediterranean’s physical, chemical, and biological environment: geodesy, gravimetry, and deformation of the Earth and its surface; hydrogeological, hydrological, and geophysical monitoring of aquifers, particularly karstic ones; monitoring of the Languedoc coastline, the interface between the watershed and the marine environment, and the shoreline; pollution and biological adaptability downstream of former mining sites; measurement of fluxes (CO2, water, gases) and ecosystem functioning; phenology of terrestrial flora and fauna; dynamics of animal and plant communities; population dynamics of model organisms. It also houses three major regional technical platforms: GLADYS for integrated coastal studies, AETE for water pollution analysis, and the Sète Marine Station (SMEL). The CEFE project aims to understand the dynamics, functioning, and evolution of life, from “bacteria to elephants” and “from the genome to the planet.” It is based on three goals: understanding the living world to anticipate what tomorrow will bring; driving innovation and meeting society’s expectations; practicing a “unifying” science that is diverse in its disciplinary approaches. La diffusion de la culture scientifique se traduit par la transmission des connaissances, techniques et savoir-faire entre sciences et société. C’est l’une des missions des universités et c’est une démarche volontaire qui mobilise l’Université de Montpellier et sa communauté scientifique : chercheurs, enseignants-chercheurs, doctorants, … La culture scientifique foisonne d’acteurs et d’initiatives visant à repousser les frontières de la connaissance. Sa diffusion vise le partage, l’échange, l’expérience et le débat d’idées autour de questions scientifiques. A l’Université de Montpellier, elle s’illustre notamment par : la diffusion des savoirs scientifiques auprès du plus grand nombre ; la valorisation des métiers scientifiques et techniques auprès des jeunes ; le développement des échanges et des partenariats ; la formation à la médiation scientifique (étudiants en master, doctorants). Les services de culture scientifique de l’UM coordonnent le dialogue entre science et société au travers de multiples événements, sur le réseau de campus de l’Université de Montpellier et hors les murs, pour un public de citoyens, d’étudiants, lycéens et scolaires. Pour cela, les équipes collaborent avec de nombreux partenaires : organismes de recherche, CCSTI, associations, centre culturels, institutions publiques et privées. Les actions phares La science rend des contes La résidence « La science rend des contes » réunit trois conteurs et conteuses, en immersion depuis septembre 2025 aux côtés de scientifiques de l’Université de Montpellier et de ses organismes partenaires, engagés autour de trois grands piliers : nourrir, soigner, protéger. L’objectif est de créer un ou plusieurs récits nourris des travaux de recherche menés dans les laboratoires de recherche.Les restitutions publiques se feront sous forme de spectacles pour les enfants de 6 à 11 ans et leurs parents.Les spectacles seront également enrichis d’échanges avec les scientifiques et vous pourrez leur poser toutes vos questions ! Plus d'informations et inscriptions Le Bar des sciences : la soif de savoir ! Les services Culture Scientifique proposent une saison annuelle de Bar des sciences sur des sujets sciences et société. Le Bar des sciences, produit par l’Université de Montpellier, en partenariat avec l’INRAE, l’INSERM et l’IRD, offre depuis plusieurs années des rendez-vous mensuels de culture scientifique contribuant au dialogue entre sciences et société. Aux antipodes de conférences formelles, ces débats sont des invitations aux échanges entre les spécialistes d’un sujet et le grand public. Replay sur la chaîne YouTube de l’UM La Fête de la science La Fête de la science est un événement annuel majeur de culture scientifique. Grâce à la mobilisation d’acteurs dans les Facultés, organismes de recherche, laboratoires, associations… les sciences s’exposent et prennent vie autour d’animations variées, surprenantes et étonnantes. L’Université de Montpellier coordonne l’événement à l’échelle du département de l’Hérault et pilote le Village des sciences de Montpellier implanté à la Faculté d’Education. Placé sous le signe de l’exploration et de la découverte, le village des sciences de Montpellier foisonne d’animations destinées aux petits comme aux grands : ateliers, démonstrations, expérimentations, jeux, projections, conférences… Une belle occasion de rencontres passionnantes, de partages de savoirs et de découvertes pour mieux comprendre le monde qui nous entoure et imaginer l’avenir ! Exposition « NounOURS, de l’ours des cavernes à l’ours en peluche » La prochaine exposition proposée par le service Culture Scientifique s’inscrit dans le prolongement de la peluchologie, opération de pédagogie originale et de vulgarisation scientifique imaginée en 2010. Conçue pour être itinérante, elle est constituée de panneaux muséographiques, vitrines d’objets, collections de livres et d’ours en peluche. Elle rend ainsi un bel hommage à cet animal noble et sacré, dieu déchu et roi des peluches : l’ours. Fiche projet expo nounours - Site web - Facebook Appel à projets Relation société-société Le Programme d’Excellence I-SITE comprend un volet de soutien aux actions « Relation science-société » qui se concrétise par un appel à projets ouvert à l’ensemble des établissements et organismes du consortium. Il s’inscrit dans une stratégie de diffusion de la recherche générée sur notre territoire et de ses enjeux, notamment auprès d’un public jeune ou scolaire (primaire à lycée) et vise à soutenir les initiatives innovantes de partage des savoirs, les dialogues, méthodes, résultats, enjeux et questionnement autour des thèmes scientifiques. Doté de 50 K€ sur deux campagnes (automne 2022 & automne 2023), il permet de soutenir chaque projet avec un financement pouvant aller jusqu’à 4 K€. En 2022, les projets retenus sont : Coup de projecteur sur la biodiversité (in)visible : la biodiversité inventoriée Le projet, porté Frédérique Carcaillet (Marbec) comporte 3 parties :  l’exposition « Biodiversité inventoriée », deuxième volet de l’exposition « Coup de projecteur sur la biodiversité (in)visible », un évènement autour de la projection du film documentaire « Discrètes sentinelles -Conservation communautaire » et la mise à disposition d’un outil pédagogique d’accompagnement à la visite de l’exposition pour les lycéens. Ce projet a pour objectif de faire découvrir au public lycéen les savoirs, savoir-faire et métiers en lien avec l’étude de la biodiversité et ceci grâce à des exemples concrets issus de la communauté du programme d’excellence ISITE. Découverte et partage multi-sensorielle des bois et de leur biodiversité Le projet présenté par Sandrine Bardet (LMGC) et Kevin Candelier (BioWooEB) porte sur sensibilisation du jeune public à la biodiversité des forêts – arbres – bois en posant la question : Comment la valoriser au travers de service rendu à l’homme tout en la préservant ? Par le biais d’ateliers conduits en classes et sur le terrain, les jeunes élèves seront invités à mettre leur sens en éveil (observer, toucher, sentir et écouter) pour découvrir et comprendre la biodiversité végétale qui les entoure : comment les arbres grandissent, pourquoi sont-ils différents, comment l’arbre produit du bois, quels sont les services rendus par la forêt et les usages possibles du matériau bois ? Cet accompagnement scientifique sera mené dans une classe de Montpellier et une classe de Kourou (Guyane), toutes deux issues de Réseaux d'Education Prioritaire, avec pour objectif de mettre en relation les élèves et les enseignants de ces deux zones géographiques et les faire travailler ensemble sur un projet scientifique commun, mais avec des ressources naturelles et des besoins locaux totalement différents. Mise en place d’activités expérimentales autour du traitement de l’eau dans le cadre des cordées de la réussite EAU Ce projet, porté par Julie Mendret (IEM), repose sur de la médiation scientifique autour des sciences de l’eau. Il vise à mettre en lien des collégiens et lycéens de Lozère avec des chercheurs et étudiants de l’Université de Montpellier dans le cadre de la cordée de la réussite EAU : Encordés A l’Université. A travers ce projet, il s’agira de mettre en place des activités expérimentales associées au traitement et à la qualité de l’eau et de prendre en charge les missions que cela implique. Ateliers et médiation en CHimie pOur Le secondAiRe (SCHOLAR) Le projet, porté par Jean-Yves Winum et Jean-Sébastien Filhol (IBMM), s’inscrit dans le contexte du renforcement des ateliers de découvertes scientifiques mis en place en 2022 par le groupe de Physique-Chimie de l’IRES en permettant la création de nouveaux contenus de médiation scientifique auprès des élèves de collège et de lycée, incluant de nouvelles thématiques d’ateliers et des présentations associées. Il a de plus pour but de donner une dimension découverte de la recherche à ces ateliers en présentant celle issue des instituts du Pôle Chimie Balard dans le domaine des matériaux innovants, des pigments et des colorants, pour des applications high-techs et dans le domaine de la santé. Accompagnement Numérique de l’Orientation avec des Graines d’Information (ANOGI) Ce projet, porté par Chrysta Pelissier et Jean Moutouh (IUT de Béziers) vise à valoriser une démarche réflexive instrumentée par le numérique pouvant être menée par les collégiens / lycéens lozériens dans le cadre d’activités dédiées à leur orientation. Certains de ces apprenants souffrent d’inégalités sociales, genrées, socio-culturelles ayant pour conséquence une autocensure ou peu d’intérêt pour les activités liées à leur orientation. La démarche innovante proposée prend appui sur des travaux de recherche issus du domaine de l’information et de la communication et des sciences du langage. Elle a pour enjeu de développer et transmettre une pédagogie de l’orientation innovante, ouvrant notamment le débat entre les apprenants et entre l’apprenant et ses enseignants.

Activities and Objectives of the Association The SGM Association supports student life at the IUT de Nîmes through various initiatives: providing a study room equipped with computer stations; having second-year students assist first-year students; organizing social events, ski trips, and more.

Activities and Objectives of the Association Plume! is a student organization that produces and disseminates scientific culture to the general public. Its approaches are complementary: to inspire, promote, and support the dissemination of knowledge among young scientists. To this end, the association publishes the monthly magazine Plume!, which discusses science in language that everyone can understand. It also organizes training sessions for undergraduate and graduate students to introduce them to the popularization of their research. Board President: Vincent Bonhomme

Activities and Objectives of the Association The Objectif Terre association brings together undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students in Earth and Water Sciences at the University of Montpellier. Objectif Terre supports students in their academic life through group purchases of supplies and by providing past exam papers. The association also organizes various events: parties, happy hours, and trips. To foster a strong sense of community among its members, the association publishes a newsletter called “Géoscoop” and designs a T-shirt every year.
