Designed in partnership between the University of Montpellier, the Montpellier School of Fine Arts, and Newcastle University, this international exhibition brings together scientific objects from university collections and contemporary works of art. Ancient drawings from the Atger Museum, three-dimensional models of floral skeletons, educational models by Dr. Auzoux, objects from anatomical collections, and herbarium specimens are revealed here as sources of inspiration for today's artistic creation: the imagination of a dozen artists selected by curator Alistair Robinson invites us to reevaluate the meaning and aesthetics of these university objects.
Every Tuesday at 1 p.m., students in 2e year at the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Montpellier invite the public to accompany the exhibition and present their pieces, created as part of their course "Before And After Science."
The exhibition will also be accompanied by a symposium to be held at La Panacée on May 16 and 17, with the aim of connecting scientific research and artistic practices, and examining their respective creative processes (more information).
