“A Scientific Encounter: On Interobjectivity”

Developed in partnership with the University of Montpellier, the Montpellier School of Fine Arts, and the University of Newcastle, this international exhibition brings together scientific objects from university collections and works of contemporary art. Historical drawings from the Atger Museum, three-dimensional models of floral skeletons, Dr. Auzoux’s educational models, objects from anatomical collections, and herbarium specimens are revealed here as sources of inspiration for contemporary artistic creation: the imagination of a dozen artists selected by curator Alistair Robinson invites us to reevaluate the meaning and aesthetics of these academic objects.
Every Tuesday at 1 p.m., the students in 2^e Students from the Montpellier School of Fine Arts are inviting the public to join them to explore the exhibition and present their works, created as part of their “Before And After Science” course.
The exhibition will also be accompanied by a symposium to be held at La Panacée on May 16 and 17, with the aim of bridging the gap between scientific research and artistic practices, and exploring their respective creative processes (more information).
