Conceived in partnership between the University of Montpellier, the Montpellier School of Fine Arts and the University of Newcastle, this international exhibition brings together scientific objects from university collections and contemporary works of art. Old drawings from the Musée Atger, three-dimensional models of floral skeletons, pedagogical models by Dr. Auzoux, objects from the anatomical collections and herbarium specimens are revealed here as sources of inspiration for today's artistic creation: the imaginations of a dozen artists chosen by curator Alistair Robinson invite us to re-evaluate the meaning and aesthetics of these university objects.
Every Tuesday at 1 p.m., students in the 2e year students from the École Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Montpellier are delighted to welcome the public to the exhibition and present their work, created as part of their "Before And After Science" course.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a symposium to be held at La Panacée on May 16 and 17, the aim of which will be to bring together scientific research and artistic practices, and to question their respective creative processes (more information).
