Emergencies – What to Do in Case of an Accident or Medical Emergency
Step 1: Dial 15 (emergency medical services) or 18 (fire department)
The 114 ( an emergency number available only in France) allows deaf and hard-of-hearing people to alert emergency services (SAMU, Fire Department, Police)
IMPORTANT:
- Provide emergency responders with the address of the accident or medical emergency
- a phone number where we can reach you
- the victim's condition
- Don't hang up first
- guide first responders upon their arrival
⚠ If the risk persists, protect both the victim and yourself from any further accidents.
STEP 2: While waiting for help to arrive, call a first-aider at your site or your site’s safety command center

Heart attack
In the event of a cardiac emergency, the University of Montpellier has defibrillators located at its various campuses.
Minor discomfort
On the 15th, patients experiencing minor health issues may be referred to the Preventive Medicine Service (SCMPPS).
Final step: Accident reporting procedure
For University of Montpellier staff
Any absence from work related to a work-related accident must be reported to your supervisor within 48 hours. You have 15 days to file the work-related accident report by following the procedure.
Report the accident in the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) logbook available in each work unit.
For students enrolled at the University of Montpellier
You have 48 hours to file your accident report.
